The historic International Market Square is a cornerstone of the creative corridor. When it opened in 1985 it was Minnesota’s largest renovated building, then combining 6 buildings encompassing over 600,000 sf. SRa completed a renovation of the entrance, lobby, restrooms, and common areas in partnership with InUnison. Selecting design strategies and elements such as the warm lighting fixtures, the unique central pendant light, and the diverse seating options in the lobby, for example, helped to make this historic space feel much more updated and inviting. The parking lot was reorganized to both increase safety for the numerous pedestrians that traverse it every day and to add more than 100 new parking spaces to provide for the growing usage of the building. SRa continues to serve future tenants of this beautiful historic property as the Architect of Record ensuring that the integrity of the original building of the past blends seamlessly with the design standards of today.
