United Christian Academy
PROJECT
United Christian Academy High School in Lakeville, MN is a proposed 72,000 sf building set to provide 300+ students with a quality, faith-based education. The site, located at the intersection of I-35 and 210 St W, allows for both easy access to the school for students and staff and ample space for the school to grow and expand in tandem with the predicted increase in demand for private-education opportunities.
The building itself is set to be primarily constructed of pre-cast concrete panels which aid in being extremely cost-effective while also retaining a high degree of design quality. These panels are to be of varying materials to create a dynamic exterior façade. Thin brick and metal paneling are to compliment the smooth concrete finish of certain areas of the façade to create heightened visual interest and to give the school a unique character. Windows are to be of no shortage. Modern educational facilities advocate for large access to natural light in classrooms, and this school does not stray from that path whatsoever. Students, with this connection to the exterior environment, will be able to focus during class much easier and feel more comfortable in the atmosphere where they spend a large portion of their time.
To further push the design narrative, the entry canopy is to be constructed of steel beams that come together in the form of a crucifix. Extending out from the defined entryway, it guides and greets students and staff as they enter the building and shows that at UCA all are welcome. SRa is extremely excited to be working in close coordination with Loeffler Construction and United Christian Academy to make their dream of a new center to expand their educational capabilities to as many students as possible come true.
